This jaw-dropping vision of the Sistine Chapel ceiling by Michelangelo has been painstakingly recreated by simple cross-stitching.

The masterpiece, by 44-year-old Canadian needle-worker Joanna Lopianowski-Roberts, who lives in San Francisco, CA, took her a gruelling eight years to replicate in all its amazing detail.

Her husband Aaron Roberts timed the entire process from start to finish with his stopwatch — it took a staggering 3572 hours.
