Extreme weather photographer and storm chaser Jim Reed has spent the last 20 years being as close as possible, and perhaps closer than is advisable, to the most extreme meteorological events.
Covering disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Ike, Reed’s book Storm Chaser: A Photographer’s Journey documents his time in the field.
Surviving the direct strike of 17 hurricanes in the U.S., 2010 marks Jim’s 19th consecutive year of extreme weather photography.
Jim currently has images being shown at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC in conjunction with the new Sargent and the Sea exhibit about artist John Singer Sargent.
