Jeremy Jarvis, 13, and his brother Denver Colorado Jarvis, 15, and 15-year-old Matthew Bent are seen in juvenile court on Tuesday (Oct. 13) in Fort Lauderdale at the Broward County Courthouse.
The three young boys are among five Florida teens who have been charged with dousing a 15-year-old fellow classmate with rubbing alcohol and setting him afire. He later suffered burns to over 80% of his body.
It was Monday afternoon when the attack took place at an apartment complex in Deerfield Beach. According to authorities, Michael Brewer reportedly had not repaid another boy $40 he borrowed to buy a video game, so the young boy tried to steal a bicycle belonging to Brewer’s dad. The youth was arrested Sunday and released from juvenile detention Monday morning.
Later that afternoon, Brewer was accosted by the five teens. The alleged ringleader of the attack called Brewer a “snitch” and goated his friends to douse Brewer with the highly flammable rubbing alcohol. The minor accused of setting Brewer on fire with a lighter is charged with attempted second-degree murder. The other four are charged with aggravated battery.
Meanwhile, a family member says that Brewer is “doing pretty good” though he is “still serious.”

Set them on fire.
I do not understand humans sometime, what in life would make anyone much less a child set another human life on fire? was it worth the 40 bucks?? was it worth destroying a family, even yours? your parents must have done a great job raising you for you all to act like monsters at such a tender age….you get what you deserve….I hope it hurts, and yet will pray for you all….
Wow. Due at 12? Youre thinking about killing already? Are you serious? I didn’t even know what murder and stuff meant! Kids these days i swear! I don’t care if they are just kids they deserve the highest sentence! I wish i was old enough to be one of the juries hehe
I honestly am mortified. My eyes began to water as I read this. I have NEVER heard of any KIDS committing such a haneous crime as this. My heart goes out to you michael, keep on keeping on..you will be in my prayers, as will your family to retain their sanity during all of this. I will also have the five perpetrators in my prayers, I hope the five of you learn from the HORRIBLE MISTAKE you have made.
It’s simple. If your child does this to my child, I go after your child.
Jail. Probation. Whatever. DOES NOT COMPARE TO LIFELONG BURNS THAT WILL NEVER HEAL.
Those kids look evil and unremorseful. Someone better keep an eye on them before they do something even more evil.
I WHICH GOD BLESS MICHAEL AND HIS FAMILY AND IT HEARDS MY HEART TO SEE YOU LIKE THIS MICHAEL BUT ME AND MY MOM WERE GOING TO HELP YOU . AND FILL BETTER SOON.
