SUBWAY WORKER FIRED AFTER RIDER ACCIDENT

A subway attendant in Boston has been fired and a second employee suspended after a woman was injured when her purse was caught by a departing train.

The unnamed 34-year-old woman was attempting to board a Red Line train at Boston’s South station when the doors closed on her purse.

When the train pulled away, she ran alongside it, trying to dislodge her bag. She suffered minor injuries when she was slammed into a wall near the end of the platform.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority fired an attendant who is supposed to monitor doorway closings and suspended the driver for 10 days.
