The global financial crisis hasn’t affected everyone.
According to Sotheby’s auction house, a life-size bronze sculpture by Alberto Giacometti has sold for a world record $104 million. It marks the most ever paid for art at auction.
Cast in 1961, “L’Homme Qui Marche I” (”Walking Man I”) is smong six pieces by the Swiss-born artist.
As for the lucky seller? The Germany-based Commerzbank, which acquired it a year ago when it bought Dresdner Bank and its art collection.
The piece was sold to an anonymous bidder by telephone. Bidding opened at a petty $24 million.
